Traveling Exhibits

Indiana Historical Society

From time to time, topical exhibits are loaned to the gallery courtesy of the Indiana Historical Society. At this time, no loaned exhibit is on display at the museum.

The Lawrence County Museum will be creating community minded exhibits to share with groups.

For members of the community who wish to exhibit items of public interest, the school exhibit can be made available to individuals, groups and organizations.

A Traveling School Exhibit is now available. More exhibits will be produced in the future.

Historic Schools Exhibit

Before the BNL (Bedford North Lawrence) school system was created in the 1970s, students attended city and rural schools throughout the county.  An exhibit remembering some of these schools was created lest we forget them: Bedford, Fayetteville, Heltonville, Huron, Leesville, Mitchell, Needmore, Oolitic, Shawswick, Springville, Tunnelton and Williams.

Display boards (26" tall x 35" wide) exemplify each of these schools. The boards can be displayed on portable racks, which were provided for this purpose by the Lawrence County Community Foundation. The display has been shown at several local nursing homes. People love to remember the schools they attended, and lively conversation usually ensues.
